"Bringing about positive change is all about putting yourself in other people's shoes, understanding where they're coming from and getting everyone moving in the same direction," local businesswoman Karen Godley says. And she should know. Throughout her life and throughout her career, Karen has excelled at making a positive impact through this simple philosophy. Bringing About Positive Change Karen began her career in public housing as a Director of Maintenance, not a typical role for a woman. Not only did she win the respect of her staff of 16 tradesmen, but also the contractors that served the program. In the span of 18 months, she transformed a low-performing organization into a high-performing housing authority. Her efforts didn't go unnoticed, and she was elected to the Florida Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. She became president of the association, making her the first Director of Maintenance to ever hold that title. Karen would later become Deputy Director of the housing authority. She was proud to bring her skills as a negotiator to the Child Advocacy Center, a program that served child victims of abuse. She was able to bring law enforcement, state attorneys, children and family services, the courts and medical services together to improve the way child victims of abuse were treated. What Makes Karen Outstanding in the Housing Industry? Karen has helped families with their real estate needs through military family housing, public housing, elderly housing, new home sales and home resales. Karen holds several designations for educational accomplishments in real estate and is a Broker in both Tennessee and Florida. Beyond her educational accolades, Karen also donates a portion of her commission to various charities that she supports. When you work with her toward the sale or purchase of a home, you'll see her determination to succeed and passion for helping others. She has been involved in the housing industry for more than three decades and understands houses from the foundation to the roof trusses. Since 2003, Karen has earned a sterling reputation for helping people make the most of their real estate opportunities. Contributing to the greater good is what Karen is really all about, whether that means through her career as a Realtor®, through donations or simply being involved in organizations for positive change.
