5 Quick Cleaning Tips You Can Use in March (Or Any Month of the Year)

All right Mother Nature, Middle Tennessee is tired of snow and ice! Bring us some of that amazing spring weather. For many, spring weather signals the start of spring cleaning. But who decided that a majority of your cleaning had to occur in the spring? These quick cleaning hacks will help you all year long.

Clean Your Blinds Using Vinegar

Attempting to clean the many blinds around your home can be daunting and difficult. That is, unless you use this trick!

Mix equal parts water and vinegar in a bowl of your choice. Obviously, the more blinds you have in your house, the more mixture you’ll need.

Find an old, and clean, sock and slip it on your hand. Dip your hand (and sock) into the mixture, and then wipe across each blind. To get the backside, simply grip the singular blind using your hand! It’s that easy.

Use Your Blow Dryer to Remove Water Rings on Furniture

Admit it, you’re guilty of leaving drink rings on furniture too. Don’t worry, we’ve all been guilty of this!

Luckily, there’s an easy and quick way to remove these rings without having to refinish your furniture. And, you already have the answer sitting somewhere in your bathroom. The solution? Your hair dryer!

Simply leave your hair dryer on high next to the ring, and voilà!

Check out this tip (and more) from Homemade Mama’s for further proof that this nifty spring cleaning trick works wonders.

Of course, the fastest way to get rid of drink and water rings is to use a coaster!

Clean Your Coffee Pot With Vinegar

Say it with us: vinegar works wonders.

If you’re like most homeowners, your coffee pot is a national treasure. It’s used every morning, and potentially every night depending on your work/life schedule. With all this use, the coffee pot becomes pretty dirty. Once again, water and vinegar to the rescue.

Simply run equal parts water and vinegar through your coffee pot and let it sit for about an hour. Be sure to rinse the mixture out once your hour is up. Unless, of course, you enjoy the taste of vinegar in your morning coffee!

Make a Realistic Cleaning Schedule

Unfortunately, it’s unrealistic to expect that you can clean your entire home in only a few hours.

Divide your cleaning up into reasonable chunks and you’ll find that you actually accomplish more. For instance, instead of saying that you’ll clean your entire house in a weekend, put it on your schedule to clean the bathroom on Monday, the kitchen on Tuesday, and so forth.

You’ll overwhelm yourself by trying to dive headfirst into a mess. Spread out your cleaning tasks and you’ll enjoy a cleaner spring (and 2015)!

Make Cleaning Fun!

Once you’ve got your cleaning schedule figured out, it’s time to have fun. Now, unless you thoroughly enjoy cleaning, we know these chores are not what you look forward to. Therefore, you have to find ways to make these tasks enjoyable. Try these tricks to get started:

  • Put on your favorite music and dance
  • Turn it into a game
  • Use the time to workout, while cleaning (Hello lunges!)
  • Sing at the top of your lungs
  • Whatever you like to do!
