Coffee drinkers, gather ‘round! We think you’ll agree that virtually nothing compares to a fresh, piping hot mug of coffee on a cold winter morning, and these local roasters and coffee shops are the best in Middle Tennessee. The shops featured here are all independently-owned, ensuring that your earnings continue to circulate locally here in your community. Supporting small businesses is more important now than at any other time, so we encourage you to pop on your mask and pick up a beverage and a delicious bite to eat at any one of the following delightful locations.
Owned and operated by two local gentlemen, this spacious, high-end specialty coffee shop is famous for delivering perfect espresso pulls topped with stunning latte art. All of Brass Horn’s fair-trade coffee beans are roasted in-house, then brewed and served in locally handcrafted Bean and Bailey Ceramics pottery. Ideal for both small groups and independent work sessions, the shop’s open atmosphere is completed by picturesque views from the enormous front windows.
Steadfast Coffee is a secluded gem, offering upscale brews alongside an extensive menu of delicious eats. If you’ve never been before, we suggest The Duo; this popular split will give you the chance to taste your brew prepared as both a drip and an espresso beverage. If you’re in the mood for something refreshing, consider the Matchless Coffee Soda—we think you’ll love it! Due to the time each specialty requires to prepare, Steadfast is popular as a place to hang out, but may not be ideal for those who are in a hurry.
The Fainting Goat Coffee Spring Hill, TN tfgcco.com
The Fainting Goat is locally-owned and resolutely committed to offering delicious coffee and tasty breakfasts (including gluten-free and vegan options) at a price point that respects your budget. The spacious interior offers visitors three rooms to choose from, each with a distinct purpose; quiet workspaces at long tables, tables for small groups, and a cozy room with comfy chairs for those looking for a place to unwind.
This neighborhood favorite is beloved for its creative, delicious meals and always freshly-roasted premium Counter Culture coffee, but it may be the impressively-coordinated and friendly staff that has most earned Nashville’s trust. The shop’s interior is petite, so you’ll likely want to take your purchases to the tables outside in order to maintain proper social distancing while pandemic rules apply.
Conveniently located near Shelby Creek, Ugly Mugs is an adorable neighborhood shop run by a warm and welcoming crew. The calm, cozy atmosphere pairs delightfully with their coffee and breakfast offerings – and their spacious seating area is perfect for those looking to maintain safe distances in 2020 and into 2021.
Owned and operated by a local veteran and located just off the main square in Lebanon, Split Bean offers a wide array of outstanding, smooth roasts alongside tasty bakery items and ever-changing breakfast and lunch offerings. The owner and the staff are beloved for their warm and welcoming service, while the relaxed interior practically begs you to curl up with your aromatic beverage and enjoy a break. Board games are provided, but please note that the limited seating may make it difficult to maintain distancing as recommended by the CDC.
Humphreys Street Coffee Shop has taken the current pandemic seriously; in order to protect both their patrons and staff, they are currently offering to-go service online and outside the front door only.
This popular coffee shop and roastery offers delicious coffee and meals in a clean, bright, and soothing atmosphere. Additionally, they are committed to supporting the local community through their Harvest Hands charity, so every purchase provides opportunities for employment and empowerment of local young people. Humphreys Street Coffee Shop believes that teaching our young people to lead with integrity is the best way to ensure that our community continues to thrive for decades to come.
Located inside a large, old, farm-style house, The Coffee House at Second and Bridge may be the best-kept secret in Franklin.
