Parks is proud to highlight the managing broker of our Gulch office, Scott Cornett!

Scott has 15 years of experience in the real estate industry, with eight of them as part of the Parks family. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Alabama where he majored in music business and minored in business administration. When it comes to real estate, Scott specializes in building community in the urban core.

Prior to his career in real estate, Scott spent 11 years in various positions in the music business. Those roles included song publishing, pitching to television and films, licensing, art direction, and field sales. “I hopped around a lot trying to soak it all up. When I resigned, I was head of marketing and sales for an indie label that was owned by Warner Music Group,” Scott stated.

During that season, how people digested music, and the music business in general, was evolving. Scott decided it was the perfect time for a reboot. Having a father who worked in sales and as a Baptist minister gave Scott the opportunity to learn key skills from those professions and apply them to real estate. “I listen to people a lot. This process is emotional. It’s naturally ingrained in me to know how to sell something and to find ways to accentuate the positives,” he said.

When asked why he chose to join the Parks Family of REALTORS®, Scott stated, “Bob. I wasn't even looking to make a move. I loved where I was but I still took a meeting.” He continued, “Bob was so passionate about technology and tools in that first meeting that I switched firms by the end of the week.”

If Scott could offer a tip to new agents, it would be to always be providing value. “I just read a book called The Power of Moments. People remember transitions in life. This is the crux of our business. It's important to not only meet their expectations but also create a positive moment out of this experience. Think outside the box to make it a little more memorable. Also, say yes to everything in the first year in real estate. Go to baby showers. Go to weddings. Do the ugly house open house. Shake hands. Be nice to other agents. It’s a small town,” he advised.

Scott is excited about starting a new chapter as the Parks’ Gulch office prepares to move to their new location in Broadwest. He loves the people he works with and can’t wait to see what opportunities the future holds for his office. In his spare time, Scott loves to travel and explore the world. “I hit a significant birthday a few years ago and made a commitment to finding true balance in life. I don't answer calls after 7 p.m and I travel more every year now. I enjoy the journey,” he stated.

Fun fact: Scott went to college on a marimba scholarship. The marimba is a percussion instrument that consists of a set of wooden bars struck with yarn or rubber mallets. “People always think that’s crazy but it helped pay the bills,” he said laughingly.

We’re honored to have Scott as a leader in the Parks family!
