Can you believe it's already December? 2019 sure did fly by! Let this month of holiday cheer, recollection, and celebration begin. The Nashville Christmas Parade is back, as are other local favorites such as Murfreesboro's Frosty Fun Run and Columbia's Mule Drop. New events are always popping up so make sure to mark your calendars and prepare yourself for a whole lot of fun!
December 1st-15th: Festival of Lights
Drakes Creek Park | Hendersonville
For the first time ever, the City of Hendersonville will be able to drive through and look at spectacular Christmas light displays in Drakes Creek Park! This is a prime opportunity for the community to enjoy some holiday festivities with friends and family. After looking at the lights, you can stop at Demos’ Restaurant for a discount on your meals by showing your tickets. So load up the car, drive to the park, and get in the holiday spirit!
December 6th: Christmas Tree Lighting on the Square 2019
Franklin Public Square | Franklin
Join the City of Franklin as they host their annual lighting of the tree in the square! This special evening will include performances from Jars of Clay, Studio Tenn, and more. After the tree lighting, visitors can enjoy the monthly Franklin Art Crawl, photo opportunities with Santa, and even get started on some Christmas shopping!
December 7th: Nashville Christmas Parade
Downtown Nashville | Nashville
The Annual Nashville Christmas Parade is back and will include celebrity performances, elaborate floats, tons of balloons, mass performing groups featuring singers, dancers, and choirs; and marching bands from multiple states. The parade will travel along the scenic "Musical Mile" and will be flanked by tens of thousands of spectators anticipating the arrival of Santa Claus!
December 7th-8th: Holiday Lights Carriage Tours
Hillsboro Village/West End Neighborhood | Nashville
Nashville residents in the neighborhood of Hillsboro Village and West End go all out on their holiday lights and decorations. Here is a chance to see all of these amazing displays, all while riding in a carriage. Gather your family and friends and snag some tickets for a fun night out! This neighborhood is well known for its incredible lights, so don't miss out!
December 8th: Dog Photos with Santa
Cheekwood Estate & Gardens | Nashville
Celebrate the pawlidays with your furry friends at Cheekwood! Visitors will have the opportunity to bring their dogs out to Cheekwood to take their own photos all around the grounds or even get your dog’s photo with Santa. Whether they’ve been naughty or nice, all dogs must be up-to-date on their shots and be on a leash, in a lightweight cage, or in a pet carrier. This is the perfect opportunity to get some adorable photos of your good boy or girl!
December 13th: Happy Holidaze
Adventure Science Center | Nashville
Join the Adventure Science Center for unlimited beer tastings, unique holiday and science activities, and experiences that you could only find at this event! Guests will enjoy beer tasting from a long list of breweries, so there's something for everyone. Some activities will include creating bottlecap ornaments by upcycling your caps into a DIY light-up holiday decoration, investigating those silent notes in your beer to try and identify the holiday flavors inside, and learning the best methods to keep your beer frosty cool! There will also be live music by The Roland Barber Jazz Quintet.
December 13th: Frosty Fun Run
Stones River Country Club | Murfreesboro
This fun run has either a 2 or 4.5-mile option and benefits children's charities! Participants will run through the Stones River Country Club Golf Course and enjoy post-race waffles, hot chocolate, and coffee provided by Waffle House. There is no timing system, just have fun! Guests can also choose to participate in a creative bib contest, as well as have a chance to win door prizes.
December 13th-14th: Porter Holiday Flea Market
The Fairgrounds | Nashville
Nashville’s Porter Flea Market focuses on celebrating modern handmade goods! Now in its sixth year, there continues to be an emphasis on handmade art and design movement, local businesses, and community building. Along with connecting hundreds of local and regional makers with tens of thousands of shoppers, Porter Flea has earned consistent press praise and recognition. Guests will get early access to good and walk away with some free swag too!
December 21st: Lebanon Gun Show
Wilson County Expo Center | Lebanon
If you're a gun collector or hunting enthusiast, this gun show is a great place to spend some time! RK Shows will have a variety of vendors displaying guns, hunting supplies, military surplus, and tons of outdoor gear. Vendors will also be available to teach you, answer your questions, and help you find exactly what you’re looking for. Safety is the main priority, so there will be security and checkpoints for the safety of all attendees and vendors!
December 31st: Mule Drop 2020
Downtown Columbia | Columbia
The annual Mule Drop New Year’s Eve event is back again! Guests can begin their evening eating at downtown restaurants or enjoying food from one of the available food trucks while listening to music provided by Ampd Sound. Everyone will take part in the countdown at midnight with a toast of sparkling cider out of a keepsake cup! Admission to this event is free and food, drinks, and party favors will be available for purchase.
