Originally founded by American Express in 2010 to help small businesses, the day encourages consumers to shop at local businesses the Saturday after Thanksgiving (this year on November 29th). A huge help to get the word out is for people to post about it on social media, by saying you’ll be there and then to post pictures of you actually there!
