The Gulch, the small but mighty community just south of downtown, is one of Nashville’s most popular urban neighborhoods. A Cinderella Story of sorts, this once industrial area housing a railroad terminal now features towering condominiums, some of the city’s best restaurants, and unique shops and music venues, making it the perfect place for urbanites to live, work, and play. Read more below, or watch our Local’s Guide video for a quick review of the area!

With its upscale and trendy vibe, The Gulch is packed with things to do. Residents of the many high-rise condos enjoy living in this highly desirable and walkable neighborhood. There is an abundance of unique shops and a wide range of dining options from Southern fare to haute cuisine to quite literally everything in between.

While strolling around the neighborhood, a stop into some of the one of a kind shops such as the Turnip Truck or Two Old Hippies will give you a taste of the unique vibe that Nashville has to offer. The Gulch also houses high-end bookmaker, Lucchese, so you can pick up a pair of beautiful boots before you head out to the honky tonks.
The Gulch received the distinction of being the South’s first LEED certified community due to its focus on building an efficient and sustainable neighborhood. Though the mostly newly developed community has an obvious focus on all things modern, bits of the original history can still be found.Nearby Union Station, a railroad station built in 1900 turned historic hotel, gives a glimpse into life in Nashville over a hundred years ago. The Station Inn, a small venue focusing on Bluegrass and roots music, was opened in its current location in 1978 and frequently sees musical greats such as Bill Monroe and John Prine drop in for a set.Though there is plenty to see and do in the Gulch, it is also conveniently located within walking distance to some of Nashville’s finest museums, music, and sporting venues.Residents of the Gulch can easily enjoy all the best parts of Nashville without ever having to get in a car.
If you’re a professional looking to live in the best urban community Nashville has to offer, the Gulch may be where you belong.
