How to Experience Fall In Middle Tennessee

As we settle in for another gorgeous fall in Middle Tennessee, you might be looking for ways to get outside and take advantage of the comfortable temperatures with friends and family. Middle Tennessee is not lacking in fall activities; there is truly something for everyone!

Attend a Sporting Event

Fall in the South means one thing: football! But it’s not the only options for those looking to take in a competitive and energetic affair this fall.

If you are a football fanatic, you will have plenty of options to choose from to satisfy you pigskin musts. Fans of the college game can spend a Saturday in Murfreesboro cheering on the Middle Tennessee State University Blue Raiders or in Nashville to watch the Vanderbilt Commodores. There are few better ways to spend a Saturday in the fall than tailgating for a college football game.

If the professional game is more fitting for your tastes, you can spend a Sunday in Downtown Nashville to watch the Tennessee Titans take on some of the biggest names in the NFL at Nissan Stadium.

Football isn’t the only fall sport you can take in, however. The Nashville Predators are emerging as one of the top franchises in the National Hockey League and provide fast-paced excitement throughout the fall season. Don’t forget to wear a jacket!

Visit a Historic Park

If you are looking to spend some time out in nature this fall, you might have a tough time choosing which of Middle Tennessee’s various parks to visit.

Fall Creek Falls is always a popular destination for those looking to take in the changing colors of autumn. Just an hour and a half drive from Murfreesboro, the beauty and grandeur of the park’s 256-foot waterfall is always an option.

History buffs will be happy to take a trip to one of Middle Tennessee’s many historic battlefields, such as Stones River Battlefield in Murfreesboro. This historic Civil War battlefield is steeped in history and offers attendees a chance to take a guided tour to learn all about the Battle at Stones River.

The Battle of Franklin was fought in various locations around Franklin, TN. Luckily for history aficionados this means plenty of opportunities to visit notable sites that will live in America’s history forever.

Experience Music City

Aside from the countless concerts that happen year round in Middle Tennessee, there are some much quieter ways to get your fix of musical history in the Music City.

The Ryman Auditorium, nicknamed the “Mother Church,” is the original home of the Grand Ole Opry and one of the most iconic musical venues in America. Guided backstage tours are offered every day with tickets going for $27.50 for adults and $22.50 for children age 4-11. You will be taken backstage at the famed venue and learn all about what makes it such a special place to some of the most famous performers out there.

Country music die-hards can also spend a day at the Country Music Hall of Fame for a one-of-a-kind tour experience. Fans will take a trip back in time to see how country music grew to be one of the most popular genres on the planet, and how the city of Nashville and Middle Tennessee is a major part of its success.
