The new year is finally here! Let the month of new year’s resolutions, bone-chilling weather, and insane electric bills, begin! Hot Chicken Week is back, as are other local favorites such as Progressive’s Nashville Boat Show and Monster Jam. New events are also popping up so make sure to mark your calendars and prepare yourself for a whole lot of fun!


January 1: First Day Hike
Bledsoe Creek State Park | Gallatin

Begin 2019 with a ranger-led hike along the Shoreline Trail. Experience the beauty and tranquility of Bledsoe Creek, while glimpsing some of the many animals that call the park home! The trail is 1.5 miles long and rated easy to traverse. Prepare for cold weather and don’t forget proper footwear and water!


January 5: Twelfth Night
Historic Travellers Rest Plantation & Museum | Nashville

Experience the night of Epiphany and explore the time-honored traditions of Twelfth Night. Tour the Historic Travellers Rest Plantation by candlelight, hear what Christmas meant to the people on the plantation, dance a reel or two, have some chestnuts by the fire, sip some wassail, play a parlor game, and experience a holiday celebration of old.


January 5 – 6: Monster Jam
Bridgestone Arena | Nashville

Enjoy the most action-packed live event on four wheels where world-class drivers compete in monster truck racing and freestyle competitions! Monster Jam combines spontaneous entertainment with the ultimate off-road, motorsport competition. These events leave you on the edge of your seat as these competitors thrill you with jaw-dropping displays of gravity-defying feats.


January 10 – 13: Progressive’s Nashville Boat Show 
Music City Center | Nashville

There’s no better place to see and buy boats, gear, and accessories. This 4-day event packs the Music City Center with everything you need for a summer full of boating and fishing fun! Shop the area’s best selection of new boats and browse booths showcasing the latest in marine gear, motors, electronics, tackle and accessories.


January 11 – 13: Cosmos, An HD Odyssey
Schermerhorn Symphony Center | Nashville

The Nashville Symphony will perform Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” accompanied by footage of deep space captured by NASA. These breathtaking visuals will add a whole new dimension to this beloved symphony, which was inspired by American folk music and African American spirituals.


January 12: Mayday Beard Celebration & Competition
Mayday Brewery | Murfreesboro

The First Annual Mayday Beard Celebration and Competition is here! Whether you have a huge beard or a work in progress, go hang out with the crew at Mayday. January 12 – 13: Nashville Bead Show
Nashville Fairgrounds | Nashville

January 18: Winterfest Beer Blast
Westbury House | Columbia

January 21 – 27: Nashville Scene Hot Chicken Week
Multiple Restaurants | Nashville

Nashville put hot chicken on the map, now the Nashville Scene wants to put it on your plate during Hot Chicken Week. All week long the Nashville Scene partners with local restaurants to dish up hot chicken. All dishes at participating restaurants are only five bucks! Every Nashville restaurant has their own spin on hot chicken these days, and you get to explore some of them – from Chinese, to American, to Thai, and more.
