The area to the west of Nashville is made up of several growing neighborhoods that are gaining a lot of deserved praise. Sylvan Park, Sylvan Heights, and Charlotte Park are two such neighborhoods, and the distinct but bordering communities have secured a unique, entrepreneurial, and giving identity. Watch our Local’s Guide to Sylvan Park, Sylvan Heights, & Charlotte Park video here.

The area’s proximity to well-do neighborhoods such as West End lend it a high-end vibe, but locals have worked hard to keep its unique and vibrant flair alive. One of a kind shops and restaurants line the main thoroughfares and give residents options from vintage thrift shops and burger joints to more upscale boutiques and fine dining establishments.

Some of Nashville’s favorite philanthropic businesses call West Nashville Home. Thistle Farms offers natural home and body products in one shop, and their cafe next door serves up delicious breakfast and lunch dishes in a homey atmosphere. Their mission is to heal and employ women recovering from abuse and addiction. Project 615 makes some of the best t-shirts in town and similarly employs recovering Nashvillians and benefits several local charities.

Some of Nashville’s top cultural attractions call the west side home as well, including the Nashville Ballet and the Nashville Opera.

Those seeking an active lifestyle will enjoy Sylvan and Charlotte Park. McCabe Golf Course and Community Center offers fun for all ages and the Richland Creek Greenway is often busy with walkers, runners, and bikers. Climb Nashville offers a unique workout for both rock climbers and yoga enthusiasts with a variety of classes for all levels of experience.

The area has endless remodeling opportunities with cottages, bungalows, and craftsman charmers galore. Condos and townhomes are also popping up, ideal for those looking for a convenient lifestyle close to downtown. The area has long attracted young professionals, families, and retirees, making it a diverse and welcoming environment to all. Spend some time in Sylvan Park, Sylvan Heights, and Charlotte Park and you may find yourself wanting to call it home as well.

LOCAL RESTAURANTS

Offering the best of Nashville’s most iconic dish, hot chicken addicts visit Hattie B’s for spicy birds, hearty sides, and pure delight. You might get a scorched tongue, but fortunately, there’s plenty of beer options to get you through it. Locals have learned that calling ahead for takeout is the best way to go to avoid the lines that are often out the door!

Dedicated to organic, free-range, and locally grown food, Farm Burger is home to a variety of locally sourced beef burgers, snacks, craft beer, and floats. Not only aiming to make everyday food genuinely “good food,” the Sylvan Heights chain branch hopes to connect people to each other, their community, and to their right to eat and live well!
