The craft beer scene in Nashville is one of the best in the region with new breweries opening all the time. Each neighborhood has its own brewery that has staked a claim to the territory, and each offers up a little something different. No matter what atmosphere you like or your beer preference, there is bound to be a brewery that fits your style within just a few miles of home.
Here are a few of our favorites:
Tailgate Beer
7300 Charlotte Pike | Nashville
1538 Demonbreun St | Nashville
What Makes it Unique? 30-50 beers on tap, amazing dessert pizzas, tons of board games, and outdoor games such as cornhole and disc golf.
Best Bet: Their most popular and unique brew is their award winning Peanut Butter Milk Stout.
Jackalope Brewing Company
701 Eighth Ave S | Nashville
What Makes it Unique? Thursday trivia nights, live music on Sundays, plus regular visits from favorite local food trucks make Jackalope a great place to be. It was also founded by two women and is currently the only Nashville-based brewery to hold that distinction. Way to go, ladies!
Best Bet: The Bearwalker, a pure maple syrup infused beer with notes of chocolate is a favorite and tends to quickly sell out at local bars and pubs.
Fat Bottom Brewing
800 44th Ave N | Nashville
What Makes it Unique? The brewery boats a tasty in-house pub called the Hopyard, plus a great patio with cornhole boards, plus a 3,000 square foot rentable venue space.
Best Bet: Serving up several flagship and seasonal beers, it’s hard to pick just one, but the Ruby Red is the likely winner if you’re looking for a robust, but balanced American ale.
Little Harpeth Brewing
30 Oldham St | Nashville
What Makes it Unique? With a focus on creating the best beer with the smallest carbon footprint possible, you can feel good about supporting this brewery. From day one, they’ve made a point of taking care of the community and our environment.
Best Bet: Available year round and boasting a light, flavorful finish, the Chicken Scratch American Pilsner is a good choice.
Mantra Artisan Ales
216 Noah Dr #140 | Franklin
What Makes it Unique? The brewery offers free beer and yoga classes on Saturdays with your first post-workout pint being complimentary. They just ask that you make a donation to your charity of choice after your detox and retox.
Best Bet: The Saffron IPA offers a saffron and cardamom start followed by a flavorful, floral hop finish.
Black Abbey Brewing Company
2952 Sidco Drive | Nashville
What Makes it Unique? Inspired by Martin Luther (of the Protestant Reformation? Yep!) and his nun turned brewmaster wife Katherina von Bora, their taproom/Fellowship Hall resembles a monastery.
Best Bet: The Rose, a Belgian brew with notes of clove and banana, is their best seller.
Yazoo
910 Division Street | Nashville (moving next year to a larger location!)
What Makes it Unique? Yazoo was the first brewery in Tennessee to offer a high gravity beer, the Sue.
Best Bet: The Sue, a smoky, rich, malt bomb of a beer with hints of cherry wood. It’s also available as an ice cream from Jeni’s. When in Rome, right?
Turtle Anarchy
5901 California Ave # 105 | Nashville, Taproom Opening Soon
What Makes it Unique? Turtle Anarchy is a family affair, founded by two brothers. You’ll find them at nearly every beer related event around town and you can’t miss their big turtle logo.
Best Bet: The Portly Stout, a creamy feeling beer with chocolate and coffee flavors, is a great choice if you’re up for a more filling beer.
Diskin Cidery
Opening soon in Wedgewood-Houston
What Makes it Unique?Although there is already a cider company in Nashville, Diskin will be the first local craft cidery and taproom. They plan to have four to five regulars on tap plus rotating seasonal options.
Best Bet:Â We’re most excited about trying the Nashville fruit tea cider.
Mayday Brewery
521 Old Salem Rd | Murfreesboro
What Makes it Unique? With events like Hot Chicken and Jorts, 80’s Prom, and JAMbalaya, there’s always something going on to keep the crowd happy.
Best Bet: The Evil Octopus, a dark ale with eight hop additions (one for each leg), has the best rating on their website.
