Places to Recycle Your Tree

As sad as it is – that perfect pine scent and the cheer that once revolved around your family’s Christmas tree, unfortunately, can’t last forever. (Wouldn’t it be great if it took root in the living room?) However, since it won’t take root, or be staying in your living room, why not consider saving space in landfills and recycling your Christmas tree into mulch? One last feel-good experience with your Christmas tree that over 17,000 in Metro Nashville took advantage of last year, alone! (Just don’t forget to remove all stands, wires, lights, ornaments, etc!) Here’s the rundown on where to recycle:

Metro Nashville

This year, Metro Public Works has teamed up with Metro Parks and Recreation as well as Metro contractor, Living Earth, to offer Davidson County residents an environmentally friendly and convenient way to dispose of their Christmas Trees.

The Christmas Tree Recycling Drop-off program will run from December 27, 2018, to February 16, 2019, at the following locations:

• Cane Ridge Park, Una Recreation Center, Whitfield Park, Cedar Hill Park, Two Rivers Park, Joelton Community Center, Sevier Park, Richland Park, Elmington Park, Edwin Warner Park, Frederick Douglas Park
• Both of Living Earth’s locations at 1511 Elm Hill Pike and 6401 Centennial Blvd. (Living Earth of Tennessee’s operating hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to noon)

Williamson County

Williamson County uses their recycled Christmas tree wood chips for local parks and for local, natural erosion control at the county landfill. How cool is that?

Trees will be accepted at the following locations and times:

City of Brentwood – 6:30 am till dusk – Jan 4:

• Crockett Park, Granny White Park, River Park

City of Franklin – dawn till dusk – Feb 1:

• Curbside service and drop-off at Jim Warren Park, Liberty Park, Fieldstone Park

Convenience Centers yard waste recycling year round:

• Bethesda, College Grove, Fairview, Grassland, Hillsboro, Nolensville, Southall, Thompson Station, Trinity, Landfill (more information on the convenience centers here)

Rutherford County

Are you looking for a place to donate your Christmas tree once the Christmas season is over? While Rutherford County Recycling Centers DO NOT accept Christmas trees for disposal, all Rutherford County residents will be able to use any of the facilities listed below to recycle Christmas trees. Trees are shredded and then used as mulch or even on the trails in parks so be sure to clean your tree before donating.
